The 6 R Gut Healing Program

Irritable bowel syndrome, gas and bloating, diarrhea and constipation are very real problems and significantly impact our daily lives. Some people can become quite isolated. Also, the lesser talked about aspects of gut dysfunction, are connections with anxiety, mental fog and fatigue.

Conventional doctors are good at running tests and evaluating for serious problems. But what often happens is that many people fall through the cracks afterward.

Many conventional care providers don’t understand the role of the gut microbiome and food sensitivities for digestion.

This is why we believe, a foundational part of our overall health is to support the gut.

I am amazed at how many people are put on restrictive diets like the FODMAP diet for life and told there is nothing more that can be done. Many of these foods are healthy and this can lead to nutrient depletion over time.

Not only that, the social role of food is important in our culture and brings people together, strengthening community and family connections. We want to eat to be a pleasant and enjoyable activity.

I believe that people should be able to eat all healthy foods and that with the support we can manage our gut symptoms much better than what conventional care defines.

Healing and supporting the gut have a significant impact on our bodies. This includes:

  • Improving nutrient absorption

  • Clarifying silent infections in the gut microbiome

  • Supporting the brain through the vagus nerve & hormones

  • Reducing inflammation

  • Gut lining support also strengthens the blood-brain barrier reducing brain inflammation

We created a new 6 step program so patients can easily track their progress within each phase of healing. A good healing protocol takes around 4 months minimum, so we have set this as the initial length of the program. Usually, by 4 months our clients can carry out the rest on their own!

We call this the 6 R Gut Healing Program to repair the digestive system. Each step is individualized to your needs based on our naturopathic doctor’s assessments along the way.

Our new program lays out the phases of a good gut healing program from start to finish.

We are happy to submit to your extended health insurance plan after each naturopathic visit.
